Both the hydraulic/electric machines and the servo cylinders are controlled by an electronic control system.
Depending on the system, the electronic control system can also control the hydraulic power unit or the machine’s service manifold.
The electronic control system commands, monitors, manages, and records all test parameters.
The RT3 system is the result of a custom design based on the integration of advanced, reliable components that are readily available and easily replaceable with the most up-to-date versions offered by the market at any given time.
It is built on a National Instruments real-time hardware platform, and the software is developed entirely using LabVIEW. Specifically, the RT3 system consists of an “embedded” computer and one or more data acquisition and generation cards, which are selected and configured based on the specific characteristics of the end application. The various components are commercially available and easily obtainable in the event of an upgrade or an unlikely failure.
The RT3 controller is managed by a software application that runs on a real-time operating system and interfaces via an Ethernet network link with a standard PC running Windows, where a software application developed with LabVIEW resides to manage the system, provide the user interface, and save configurations and acquired data.
The RT3 system integrates electronic modules for transducer conditioning, servovalve control, and hydraulic equipment management.
Based on these premises and given the versatility of its software, the system will remain valid and relevant over time to meet future growing operational needs.
The unique initial configuration of the acquisition and generation cards allows for the definition of the number of control channels, enabling the creation of complex test equipment.
